UFPC supported Yum! Brands’ hunger relief campaign

Louisville, Ky. — Dec. 3, 2007 —

Nearly half of UFPC’s Louisville workforce volunteered with local charities to support Yum! Brands, Inc.’s World Hunger Relief Week.

The volunteers packed school lunches, sorted canned goods, served meals to the homeless and performed other tasks during the week of Oct. 15-19. UFPC’s Community Involvement Committee coordinated these opportunities with Dare to Care, The Lord's Kitchen and Wayside Christian Mission.

World Hunger ReliefYum! Brands’ hunger relief initiative was launched in early 2007 to raise funds in all restaurants for the benefit of the United NationsWorldFood Program. The goal was to raise enough funds to feed more than 500,000 children for one year.

Support for the hunger relief campaign adds to an already lengthy list of charitable events UFPC supports. Others include the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (bake sale and walk), the March for Men (supporting prostate cancer research), ongoing Red Cross blood drives, and the annual party at Brooklawn Child & Family Services.

UFPC is the exclusive supply chain management organization for Yum! Brands, Inc. UFPC manages the supply chain for all corporate- and most franchise-owned A&W, KFC, Long John Silver’s, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurant outlets in the United States. UFPC negotiates volume purchases of equipment, food, packaging and other supplies from manufacturers and suppliers for purchase by operators.
