Distribution Conference Facilitates Coaching and Communication

Louisville, Ky. — Nov. 6, 2006  —

Representatives from 16 distribution companies attended a Distributor Conference sponsored by Unified Foodservice Purchasing Co-op, LLC (UFPC) Sept. 27-28 at Louisville's Galt House East. Attendees heard presentations about UFPC operations related to distribution, including the differences in roles and responsibilities between Yum! Brands, Inc. and UFPC. Other topics included the distributor scorecard, disaster recovery and information technology. Four question-and-answer sessions allowed distributors to address their concerns in a lively, interactive forum.

"We were able to cover a number of important distribution issues regarding quality assurance, inventory, monitoring, redistribution and disaster recovery," said Gordon Crum, Vice President, Distribution and Logistics. "Maintaining clarity on these issues ensures that operators are receiving the service levels required by their contracts."

Three awards were given to recognize exemplary performance on the distributor scorecard, a tool UFPC uses to measure performance, identify best practices and facilitate coaching among distributors. Recipients included McLane Foodservice, Inc., Institution Food House, Inc. and SYSCO Food Services of Montana, Inc.

UFPC presenters included Daniel E. Woodside, President and Chief Executive Officer; Bill Bickley, Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and CFO; and Gordon Crum, Vice President, Distribution and Logistics. In total, 23 UFPC team members participated or attended the event. Yum! Brands presenter Blaine Ratterman (Finance and Accounting) provided a Yum! Brands business update. Also from Yum! Brands, Petro Zapata and Phillip Ward (Quality Assurance) spoke about crisis management and QA issues.

UFPC is the exclusive supply chain management organization for Yum! Brands. UFPC manages the supply chain for all corporate- and most franchise-owned A&W, KFC, Long John Silver’s, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurant outlets in the United States. UFPC negotiates volume purchases of equipment, food, packaging and other supplies from manufacturers and suppliers for purchase by operators.
