UFPC Co-Hosts Silent Auction to Benefit American Cancer Society

Louisville, Ky. — June 22, 2006 —

Hats for Hope, a silent auction hosted by volunteers from KFC Corp., Yum! Brands, Inc. and Unified Foodservice Purchasing Co-op, LLC (UFPC), raised $29,824 in 2006 to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign.

During the April 13 auction, new and gently worn Derby hats and other nonhat items were sold to benefit breast cancer research. UFPC became involved in this event because of company-affiliated survivors. This year's auction marked UFPC’s third year of involvement.

In addition to Hats for Hope, UFPC also supports Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in other ways. UFPC team members participated in the campaign’s main event, a noncompetitive walk that raises funds for research, treatment and other programs. UFPC also held a bake sale in the fall of 2005, which raised more than $1,100 for the campaign.

UFPC is the exclusive supply chain management organization for Yum! Brands, Inc. UFPC manages the supply chain for all corporate- and most franchise-owned A&W, KFC, Long John Silver’s, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurant outlets in the United States. UFPC negotiates volume purchases of equipment, food, packaging and other supplies from manufacturers and suppliers for purchase by restaurant operators.
