Unified Foodservice Purchasing Expands Web-based Communications

Louisville, Ky. — September 24, 2012

Unified Foodservice Purchasing Co-op (UFPC) has marked 2012 the year of essential communication improvements and critical expansions - such as its latest with the Financial Planning and Analysis Department’s introduction of web-based communications for franchisees. By eliminating paper mailings of financing statements and invoices, the objectives of the initiative were as follows:

  1. Better meet the needs of members
  2. Provide financing statements and invoices in a more timely manner
  3. Help members meet end-of-month deadlines

UFPC’s Financial Planning and Analysis Department worked with other key departments within the organization to develop a specific webpage for confidential financing programs within the secure portion of the UFPC.com website. With the launch of the initiative, store owners were immediately able to access their financing statements and invoices, putting them a whopping five days ahead of their normal schedule by eliminating U.S. mail time. As an added benefit, the operator is now able to access historical statements and invoices electronically. All statements and invoices were printed and mailed each month prior to launching the web-based communication initiative. By eliminating these mailings, money has been, and will continue to be, saved by UFPC and owners alike.

According to Kathleen O’Neal, Vice President of UFPC’s Financial Planning and Analysis Department, “The response has been astronomical since the get-go.” UFPC has tracked web hits to the new page, and participation by members and their approved staff has been very high. “We have heard lots of positive feedback,” explains O’Neal, “This move was made to better serve the needs of members who participate in financing programs, and quite frankly, to improve the overall value of their membership.”
