UFPC Receives Prestigious Award for Giving Back to the Community

Louisville, Ky. — Sept. 21, 2005 —

We CARE AwardUnified Foodservice Purchasing Co-op, LLC (UFPC) was one of only three metro-area companies honored for community involvement with a Republic Bank and Trust Co. We CARE Award given Sept. 15 at The Olmsted, 3701 Frankfort Ave., Louisville, Ky.

The award recognized UFPC’s successful ongoing efforts to make community involvement a part of its work environment and for encouraging its team members to participate in charitable activities. Each year, UFPC teams execute successful programs for Dare to Care, Metro United Way, Fund for the Arts, the American Cancer Society, Bears on Patrol, Kentucky Harvest, Maryhurst and Home of the Innocents. Other special programs include Red Cross blood drives, the Hats for Hope silent auction and a school supply drive benefiting Brooklawn Child and Family Services.

UFPC’s charitable contributions are numerous and significant. Since 2001, team members have donated 1,237 bears to the Kosair Children’s Hospital Bears on Patrol program. For World Hunger Awareness Day in 2004, team members collected and distributed 2.25 tons of food. A total of 12,000 canned food items were donated by UFPC’s offices in Louisville, Dallas, Texas, and Irvine, Calif.

Republic Bank began recognizing area businesses this year with awards for small, medium and large companies. UFPC won in the medium category, which is for companies that have between 100 and 500 employees. As an award winner, UFPC received a keepsake-quality glass sculpture currently on display in the company’s lobby.

“Having a competition for this award shows the kind of community spirit shared by companies in the Louisville area,” said Daniel E. Woodside, UFPC’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “I’m very proud of our team members who go above and beyond every year to make this happen.”
