UFPC Opens New Office Supporting International Business

Louisville, Ky. — March 15, 2010 —

Daniel E. Woodside, President and Chief Executive Officer of Unified Foodservice Purchasing Co-op, LLC (UFPC) announced the opening of a new office in Deerfield Beach, Florida on March 1, 2010.  UFPC's CaribLA location will support Yum! Brands' restaurants located in over 40 Caribbean and Latin America countries.

Under the new agreement with the CaribLA Franchisee Association, UFPC will provide sourcing, purchasing, program management, and (potentially) distribution and monitoring services. This agreement may well pave the way to supporting other international business with more franchisees in the future.

The CaribLA Franchisee Association, formerly called the KFC CaribLA Association, was formed in the early 1980s. Today, the new association serves more than 1,085 KFC, Long John Silver’s, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants by representing and protecting the general interests of all franchisees in these key market areas.

UFPC support is being led by Ron Burks, Senior Vice President, International Sourcing, Pizza Hut National Purchasing Co-op, Inc. Ron and his staff of purchasing and program management personnel will be focused on delivering programs and ensuring that the region is receiving the correct pricing from US suppliers and exporters in 2010 and beyond.

“Ron and his team, led by Eduardo Villegas have developed a highly qualified team and done extensive training to ensure that they have the tools necessary to perform at high levels for the franchisees in the CaribLA region,” said Woodside. “Our agreement to provide these services for Yum! Brands in support of their international franchisees in these key market areas will potentially lay the ground work for how UFPC expands its supply chain expertise to Yum! Restaurants International markets around the world.” he added.

UFPC is the exclusive supply chain management organization for Yum! Brands, Inc. UFPC manages the supply chain for all corporate- and most franchise-owned A&W, KFC, Long John Silver’s, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurant outlets in the United States. UFPC negotiates volume purchases of equipment, food, packaging and other supplies from manufacturers and suppliers for purchase by restaurant operators.
